Technical Infrastructure

The road network includes 1,171.3 km, 77.6 km of which are first class roads. There are two railway stations at the major railway line Sofia- Gorna Oryahovitsa - Varna.

The energy and electricity network and telecommunications are well developed. The water supply and sewerage system needs reconstruction and modernization due to the network deterioration and considerable water losses.

13 km away from the city of Targovishte is located the air base of Targovishte Airport. The airport is a good facility for the region, but because of the lack of financial resources, currently it is not being used. It is situated 25 km away from Shumen and 25 km away from Razgrad. Its unique location gives a chance for service of an area covering three regions. The economic development of the above regions, at a further stage, shall require the active participation in there economic life of such an important infrastructure entity as Targovishte Airport is.
